How many times have we asked ourselves which wine to pair with a food or a dessert, a birthday cake or Panettone?
Since 2018, Loison has been responding to some questions with videos about wine and dessert pairings at events like the Merano Wine Festival or with Easter colombas.
This new project, “Wine and Panettone Pairing,” involves Giulia Sattin, WineGirlFriend sommelier and wine blogger, who, as an architect, decided to specialize in the wine sector out of curiosity, but above all, due to her great love for wine. Giulia is from Padua… “But every winery where wine is produced feels like home to me.”
In this video, Giulia has found the perfect pairing between Panettone and Italian wines: first, she evaluated the ingredients and fillings of Loison’s Panettone, which she then matched with the characteristics of the wines selected from Dario Loison’s personal cellar.
An ideal marriage to enhance the aromas and flavors of both parts!
From architect to sommelier: what brought you to this world?
It wasn't simple curiosity that pushed me to learn more and more about the world of wine, given that at home we have always passionately tasted the world of wine and beyond. After graduating in architecture and entering the world of work as an architect, I finally decided to invest in training and specialize in this sector.
What have you learned from the world of architecture that has helped you in what you are doing now?
Architecture and wine are two slightly different worlds, but both somehow have an approach to art, aesthetics and a sense of beauty. Perhaps in this sense it helps me to know and appreciate the architecture of the cellars and also evaluate this aspect of a wine.
Your best memory related to wine?
Definitely the meeting with Nicola, my husband. It was an evening in a restaurant where I was holding a wine tasting with food pairing. During the evening Nicola started asking me questions about wines... and so our love was born.
Giulia you also recently became a mother: how do you reconcile all your digital, family and wine commitments?
Yes, I recently became Ettore's mother and I understood that in today's world mothers are the heroines of today and of everyday life, because they always manage to reconcile everything, time for the family, work and for ourselves , perhaps to the detriment of something more superfluous and less important...
Your favorite wine?
More than a wine, I have a favorite grape variety which is Pinot Noir: I find it to be a grape variety that par excellence represents elegance both in the sparkling version and when vinified in red.
How did you discover the Loison world?
I discovered and got to know the world of Loison thanks to my parents who have not let us miss Loison desserts at the table for over 20 years!
Do you have a dream in your drawer?
Yes, my dream is to travel around all the wine worlds with a camper and my family, Nicola and Ettore. Not only in Italy, but also traveling across the border and reaching the antipodes such as New Zealand or Chile, destinations already planned with a trip that we had organized before the pandemic, and which we were unable to complete, but which we hope to visit them as soon as possible.
